Charlie O’Donnell dies
Charlie O’Donnell, the man who was the voice of Wheel of Fortune, has died at the age of 78.
The announcer was a part of Wheel of Fortune even before Pat Sajak and Vanna White were on the show. Charlie O’Donnell’s agent, Fred Wostbrock, confirmed his death on Monday.
Before working on the long running television show, Charlie O’Donnell was a disc jockey in New York, an anchor man in Los Angeles and also worked on American Bandstand with Dick Clark. Other game shows Charlie served as an announcer were Jokers Wild, Tic Tac Dough and the $100,000 Pyramid.
Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak Tweeted the following upon learning of Charlie O’Donnell’s death: “Heavy hearts at ‘Wheel.’ Our wonderful announcer, Charlie O’Donnell, has passed away. We’re all in a haze right now. More later.”
Charlie O’Donnell died Sunday night at his Los Angeles home. His cause of death has not yet been released.
