Andy Irons Dead at 32 [PHOTOS]

Andy Irons, dead at 32

Andy Irons, Three Time World Surfing Champion, has died at the age of 32, shocking his fans, friends and family.

We are learning that Andy Irons caught Dengue Fever while in Puerto Rico and had to withdraw from the Rip Curl Pro Search after contracting the deadly disease. Some reports are saying that Andy Irons became so ill during his travels home that he was unable to board his flight from Dallas to Kauai. So instead he got a hotel room and was later discovered by a hotel employee.

Andy Irons won the ASP World Championship in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Sadly, he left behind a pregnant wife at his home in Hawaii.

What a terrible loss. To his wife, unborn child, family, friends and the surfing world. 32 is far too young to pass away. Sending our love to those who loved Mr. Andy Irons.

Unbelievably sad. I wonder why if he was so sick and couldn’t continue traveling he didn’t go to the hospital? I am feel so sorry for his family and friends, especially his wife and the child who will never get to know her father. I never knew Dengue Fever was a possibility in this hemisphere, and that is scary to find out.
