Julien Hug of the Bachelorette, suicide
Julien Hug had been headed to Palm Desert from San Diego to manage a newly acquired restaurant that his family had owned. He never made it. Julien Hug’s body was discovered Wednesday but due to the location it could not be retrieved until Thursday.
Sadly, a good friend of Julien Hug’s, Tom Ulrich, confirms that Julien ended his life by committing suicide. He drove out to the middle of nowhere, a place not easily accessible and shot himself in the head.
Ulrich said: “I’m completely in shock. When my FBI friends told me Julien shot himself in the head, I fell to my knees in disbelief . . . This is a heavy day for us here. With all the wealth and privilege Julien had, I can’t imagine why he would take his own life. I can’t believe this has happened. Why, oh why, would such a beautiful man take his own life?
It’s a question many family and friends of suicide victims ask themselves everyday.
Ulrich continued: “Bertrand and Denise (Julien Hug’s parents) must be in shock. My heart goes out to them. He was their only son. They must be devastated. They are usually here at the restaurant most nights, hanging out and laughing with everyone. Tonight, it’s just not the case. No one has seen or spoken to Bertrand or Denise. My heart goes out to them. I can’t even begin to imagine what they’re going through.”
“He was the life of this place. He could make a mean Mai-Tai and have you coming back for round four. He was something special. A true gentleman and a respected man. I will miss him and the good times we shared. I loved that boy.”
Definitely a sad and tragic ending for Julien Hug who seemed to have it all. Unfortunately people who commit suicide come from all races, genders, and social statuses. My heart truly, truly goes out to Julien Hug’s family and friends as I too have lost family members to suicide. It will be a long road ahead for the Hug family. Sadly, they will never be the same.
Hopefully Julien Hug is at peace and free from whatever demons were haunting him. God Bless his family, friends and loved ones left behind. Suicide is never, ever an easy thing to deal with.
Please, if you are ever considering suicide, get help. Things always get better. Trust me.
