Matt D. Rutler, a set assistant on Christina Aguilera’s new film, Burlesque, might be the star’s new boyfriend.

Rutler and Aguilera were spotted this weekend as they went on a double date with Christina’s BFF Nicole Richie and her boyfriend, Joel Madden. The two couples went out to SoHo House in Los Angeles for a night out.

Matt D. Rutler and Christina Aguilera were seen getting into a car together Friday night, trying to hide from the cameras, but were unsuccessful.

A source tells People magazine that the relationship between Matt D. Rutler and Christina Aguilera started out innocent enough, but once Aguilera and husband Jordan Bratman split, the two began to spend more time together.

“It’s not serious yet, but it’s something she is exploring and finding comfort in,” says the source. “It’s new and she’s taking it day by day. She and Jordan were having problems for a long time. What kept them together is their love for their son. She met [Matt D. Rutler] on set and, during a difficult time, leaned on as a friend. After she and Jordan separated, the friendship turned romantic.”

Still, the source says that Christina’s main priority is still her son, Max, 3. “Being a great mom to Max is the most important thing in her life.”

Will Matt D. Rutler and Christina Aguilera’s relationship blossom or is he simply a rebound for the singer whose divorce is not yet final? Time will tell!
