Shannen Doherty’s father has died

Former 90210 star Shannen Doherty announced that her father, John Thomas Doherty, has died.

He was only 66.

John Thomas Doherty suffered a stroke Christmas Day, 2009. It isn’t clear if his death was a result of complications from the stroke.

Shannen Doherty, 39, released a statement via her publicist regarding her father’s death:

“We are beyond devastated. My dad touched everybody he met and even those who didn’t know him personally. The world is a much lonelier place without him. He was loved, adored, cherished and admired. He was a fighter and stood strong to fight his health issues until the very end. He was smart, beautiful in every way and was my best friend and rock.”

We wish Shannen and the entire Doherty family the best during this difficult time.
