Taylor Momsen blames her parents

17-year-old Taylor Momsen, star of Gossip Girl and frontwoman of the band, The Pretty Reckless, wants you to know why she is miserable, dark and dismal.

It’s all her parents fault. I’d like to disagree with her, but she is partially right.

Taylor says her parents are stage parents, like a LOT of child stars out there, and that she wasn’t allowed to grow-up leading a normal childhood, instead she had to work – even before she was walking.

“Everyone’s like, ‘Wow, why is she upset and why is she so miserable about things?’ My parents signed me up with Ford [modeling agency] at the age of two. No 2-year-old wants to be working, but I had no choice. My whole life, I was in and out of school. I didn’t have friends. I was working constantly and I didn’t have a real life.”

Ok, fair enough. I get it. But now is time for you to take responsibility for yourself, Taylor. Life is what YOU make it from here on out.  Please don’t end up being one of those who simply lay down and play the victim for the rest of your life. That’s no way to live. At some point you have to accept your past, good or bad, pick up the pieces and make the rest of your life what YOU want it to be. Now get to work!

    You couldn’t have said it better. If she could read what you said and actually take it to heart seriously, you would have done something better for her than her parents EVER did.

    You forget how young she is. She’s only 16 or 17. She’s rebelling. Apparently, she’s worked hard her whole life and is just now seeing what she missed. I could see you criticizing her if she were older, but come on….if I lived out my teens in the public eye, it would have been a disaster.

    Does she think anyone would see her band, or that she could afford to pay them to play with her with her lux life? I do agree it’s awful for a parent to take a 2 year old and put them to work to help the family live better. But by the age of 11 or 12 a kid can say no. She could have gone into auditions and said she didn’t want the job, at some point she agreed to continue. At some point you have to take responsibility for the life you have, hers with enough money to stop tomorrow and pay her way through school to a PHD if she chooses. Her options now are limited by herself now, and her choices. You can’t change the past or what was done, you make piece and a goal and go for it. Whinging when you are worth millions makes you appear weak, childish, and foolish. No one has a gun to her head now.
