Harold Smith Kills Self: Is He Ronni Chasen’s Murderer? [VIDEO]

Harold Smith killed himself after police confrontation

Harold Smith, the man who is believed to have murdered Hollywood publicist, Ronni Chasen, has killed himself.

Harold Smith, an ex-con who resided at the Harvey Apartments on Santa Monica Blvd., had allegedly been bragging to neighbors that he killed Ronni Chasen for a payoff of $10,000. Ronni Chasen was fatally shot in the chest and shoulder after returning home from the Burlesque movie premiere on November 16th.

Police came to question Harold Smith Wednesday evening at the Harvey Apartments and when they approached him he pulled out a gun and shot himself in in the head. Detectives are now trying to figure out if the gun he used to commit suicide was the gun used in Ronni Chasen’s murder.

If Harold Smith DID kill Ronni Chasen, what was his motive? Was he really paid to kill the multi-millionaire for someone who wanted revenge or who had an interest in her money? If so, police will be on the hunt for a mysterious third-party.

Police aren’t saying much else about the murder of Ronni Chasen, or Harold Smith’s possible involvement.

Another Hollywood publicist, Howard Bragman, believes that Ronni Chasen may have been murdered for her money. She was worth well over $6 million.  Says Bragman, ”When you talk about murder for hire, really three things [come to mind], Number 1, pride. I think 2 is romance. And I think 3 is money. And 99 percent of the time, it’s about money. And I think there is a money trail, and I think the police are on the money trail and they will find out who did this.”

This story just keeps getting more bizarre with each new release of news. It’s rare for a burglar to change into a murderer, for him there was no monetary gain for him in shooting Ronnie Chasen. I guess it’s going to end up being about matching the bullets, but we’ll never really know if it was planned or road rage if he did it at all. How very sad he took the life of a hard working, respected professional, when all he had to offer was being a petty criminal. What a waste.
