Derrick Burts, HIV Positive porn star

Derrick Burts, a porn star who has contracted HIV in the porn industry, has come forward with his identity in the hopes of changing the industry standards of safety.

Also known as his stage name Derek Chambers and Cameron Reid, Derrick Burts discovered he had HIV after testing positive for the virus on October 8th, 2010 at the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation in Sherman Oaks.

Derrick Burts worked on both heterosexual and homosexual porn films. The Adult Industry Clinic where he was diagnosed told the public that he had contracted the disease from a personal encounter, however, Burts is adamant this is not the case. “There is no possible way. The only person I had sex with in my personal life was my girlfriend,” says Derrick Burts. He adds that they told him the HIV was linked back to an HIV positive cast of a gay film.

Burts says he had contracted herpes, gonorrhea and syphilis before HIV, all while making porn films. He is calling for the industry standard to require condoms while making all porn movies and better testing for those in the porn industry.

Wow, so, Derrick Burts contracted herpes, gonorrhea AND syphilis before the HIV and STILL made pornos? That’s one brave soul. And his girlfriend? Almost more brave…
