Top 10 Celebrity Divorces of 2010
10. Elisabeth Moss and Fred ArmisenMad Men star Elisabeth Moss and SNL funnyman Fred Armiston’s marriage seemed like one that would work. Both have unconventional good looks, a great sense of humor and a promising career. But after only 8-months of marriage the couple’s relationship faltered. After Fred proposed, Elisabeth seemed like she was on Cloud 9. She told USAWeekend.com of his proposal: “It’s private, so I don’t want to share the details of how, but I will say it was perfect!” Sadly the marriage wasn’t, and the couple split in June 2010.
9. Charlie Sheen and Brooke MuellerAfter the Christmas blowout these two had Christmas 2009, it really wasn’t much of a shock that the marriage between Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller didn’t work out in 2010. They seemed to be trying for awhile though. Both parties were in and out of rehab, and in May the couple released this joint statement to the media via Mueller’s attorney and the executive producer of Two and a Half Men: “Please let us clarify this: They are not seeking a divorce nor has one been contemplated.”
But in October, after Charlie and an escort were involved in a crazy, drug addled fight one night in a New York hotel room, it pushed the marriage over the edge. Charlie filed for divorce one week after the scandal.
8. Cameron Crowe and Nancy WilsonDirector Cameron Crowe and Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson’s divorce was shocking in that the couple had been married 24-years and seemed in it for the long haul.
Unbeknownst to many, Cameron and Nancy actually split in 2008 but waited until summer 2010 before filing for divorce.
7. Michael C. Hall and Jennifer CarpenterThe much loved Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, who play brother and sister on the hit Showtime series Dexter, shocked fans when the couple announced their split in December. They were married on New Year’s Eve 2008 after dating for a year and a half. Jennifer had stood by Michael through his bout with Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer in early 2010, but not even that experience could keep them together. December 13, 2010 Hall and Carpenter announced their divorce.
6. Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish CyrusLast October the parents of teen superstar Miley Cyrus (and four other children) called it quits after 17-years of marriage. Rumors swirled not long after their divorce announcement in October 2010 that Tish had cheated with rocker Bret Michaels. Bret had worked with Miley on a song earlier in the year and that’s when Tish became close to him. Michaels denies the affair, and when asked if the rumors were true, he replied: “The answer is no.” Both Billy Ray and Tish have kept mum on the matter.
5. Scarlett Johansson and Ryan ReynoldsOne of the most beautiful couples in Hollywood, Scarlett, voted GQ’s Babe of the Year 2010, and Ryan, voted People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2010, didn’t have a beautiful marriage. On the exterior this seemed like a perfect marriage. But just over two years into the marriage it ended in divorce. In 2010 Scarlett and Ryan purchased a romantic Louisiana farmhouse but rumors that the couple’s marriage was failing sprung up in the spring and never really died down. On December 14, 2010 the couple announced their divorce. “After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it.”
4. Christina Aguilera and Jordan BratmanChristina and Jordan’s relationship had quite romantic beginnings. They met in 2002 through her management company and hit it off immediately. In early 2005 Jordan proposed to Christina while the couple vacationed in Carmel, CA. Jordan had filled their hotel room with rose petals, balloons and gifts. Each gift contained a poem that he had written for her. They both seemed over the moon. They married later that year and had a child in January 2008. Christina and Jordan split on September 11, 2010 and Christina filed for divorce on October 14, 2010. Christina has been quick to move on. Not long after her split with Jordan she was spotted out with Matt Rutler, a set assistant for her film Burlesque, which she had been working on all year. Christina says she and Matt simply started out as friends and the relationship grew after she separated from Jordan, but we aren’t quite convinced.
3. Eva Longoria and Tony ParkerThe Desperate Housewives star and San Antonio Spurs player seemed to be best friends, but the demise of their relationship ended up involving one of their best friends.
Tony Parker and Eva Longoria began dating in 2005 and were initially quiet about their romance. But after Eva was spotted at numerous Spurs games and out with Tony on occasion, it became apparent she and Tony had a good thing going. Two years later they married in Paris. First in a civil ceremony then with an incredibly lavish wedding and reception. In November 2010 the couple split. It was rumored that Eva had found inappropriate text messages that Tony had shared with a friend of the family, the wife of Tony’s former teammate Brent Barry. Both Tony and Erin Barry denied an affair, but now Eva and Tony – as well as Erin and Brent – are divorcing.
After Eva and Tony were spotted having lunch recently, rumors of a reconciliation spread. However, the estranged couple spent the holidays apart and the divorce is still in place.

It was a bad year for Tiger Woods and it all started around Thanksgiving 2009. We probably don’t need to fill you in on the whole scandal. Text messages, a car wreck, Ambien, mistresses, porn stars, you name it. It was one of the most scandalous splits ever. Tiger went to rehab, he apologized, he quit playing golf …but his wife ended up quitting him. Five years after marrying in Barbados with wedding guests such as Oprah Winfrey, Charles Barkley and even Bill Gates, the fairytale marriage was destroyed, and Elin, humiliated.
Elin finalized the couple’s divorce on August 23, 2010. She has been spending a lot of time with her family and the couple’s children in her homeland of Sweden.

On the heels of the Tiger Woods scandal came the Jesse James scandal. The rough around the edges bad boy was married to one of the most successful and beautiful women in Hollywood, Sandra Bullock. They seemed like the classic “opposite’s attract” couple, a low-key, normal couple who veered away from the Hollywood spotlight. Sandra became a sort of surrogate mother to Jesse’s children and Jesse was very protective of Sandra. In March 2010 Sandra won an Oscar for her role in The Blind Side. It was truly a golden moment. After her win, Jesse said of his wife: “She’s beautiful. She’s amazing. She takes my breath away.” But just days later it was revealed that Jesse had cheated on Sandy – with a tattooed (face and everywhere else) stripper named Michelle Bombshell. Michelle came forward and told the media all about it, in graphic detail, for months, and wasn’t lying. Immediately after, Sandra left Jesse and never returned.
The scandal lasted months and resulted in Jesse going to rehab for sex addiction. He later said he was the “Most Hated Man in the World,” and he may have been right. He broke the heart of of America’s Sweetheart and America still hasn’t forgiven him.
