Zsa Zsa Gabor to have leg amputated

Zsa Zsa Gabor’s health problems are mounting, and the new year is going to pose some challenges for the 93-year old who has been in and out of the hospital for the past year.

Zsa Zsa’s husband Prince von Anhalt told TMZ he called a private ambulance to take her to the hospital to have half of her leg amputated. Apparently doctors have warned Zsa Zsa that she needs the surgery badly, as a blood clot in her leg has spread. But hard-headed Zsa Zsa refused to have the leg amputation surgery over the holidays, being as it may be her last year to enjoy them.

Doctors visited Zsa Zsa Gabor’s home Sunday and came to the conclusion that her situation was extremely grim. They told Zsa Zsa and Prince von Anhalt that if she didn’t go to the hospital immediately to have her leg amputated that she would die.

Zsa Zsa Gabor has had numerous medical problems in recent years. She suffered a stroke in 2005 and had surgery to remove an arterial blockage, then in 2007 she needed another related surgery. She also had a serious infection. Last July Zsa Zsa broke her hip in a fall at her home and has been in and out of the hospital ever since, even requesting her last rites be read at one point.
