Fans have been wondering, will Britney Spears make a show stopping opening Grammy performance in 2011?

Her rep says no.

The Grammy news comes on the heels of Britney Spears’ new single “Hold it Against Me” going to Number 1 on iTunes downloads after it’s release Monday.

Britney Spears fans are anxious to see a fresh performance from the Pop Princess amidst all the hype surrounding her upcoming new album. But sadly it will not be at the Grammy Awards. Her rep adds that not only will Britney Spears not be opening the Grammy Awards show, she will not be performing later in the show, either.

On Monday Britney tweeted to her fans showing her appreciation for their positive response to her new single. She wrote: “Seriously, I have the best fans ever. I love you all so much!! Everything I do is for you! xoxo Brit”
