Jack LaLanne Died

Jack LaLanne, the original fitness guru, has died at age 96.

Jack LaLanne, the man known as the “godfather of fitness,” died Sunday at his home in Morro Bay after a battle with pneumonia.

LaLanne was 96.

Jack LaLanne encouraged men and women to eat healthy, workout and lift weights in the 1960′s and his “The Jack LaLanne Show” was the longest running television exercise show ever at 34-years. In his lifetime he published numerous books, his most recent one just last year. Of course we all know Jack LaLanne for his juicers as well.

Up until his illness Jack LaLanne worked out every day for 2 hours. An hour and a half with weights and a half hour of swimming or walking. His determination never wavered.

LaLanne once said: “I cannot afford to die, it would ruin my image.” We think not.

I once read that we should all live so that when we die, even the undertaker will be sad.

    That was Jack.

    Peace be with you Jack.

Maybe I should rename my name to “Old Chick”, but I can remember watching his show as a kid and looking through a window in the house and watching our next door neighbor doing his exercises. Even my mother did them. He walked the walk and talked the talk. His show proved you don’t have to drop a fortune on keeping fit. Long live La Lanne!
