Charlie Sheen: ‘Two and a Half Men’ Future Unknown

With Charlie Sheen in rehab, Two and a Half Men’s future is on hold

Charlie Sheen is reportedly going to be in rehab for three months, leaving production staff nervous about their future, and the future of the show.

Production of Two and a Half Men is at a complete standstill until Charlie Sheen returns to the set. Eight episodes were supposed to be currently underway but Sheen entered rehab after a crazy weekend in Las Vegas and now the show is in jeopardy. More than 300 people are now out of a job until his return. Apparently last time Charlie was in rehab (Feb. ’10) the Two and a Half Men crew was partially compensated. No word on if that will be the case this time.

Will Charlie Sheen even stay in rehab for 3-months? I seriously hope so, but am certainly not going to hold my breath.

No matter how much it costs to have Charlie out for 3 months, he would have died within the year mostly likely, if not sooner and everyone would have permanently lost their jobs. I don’t think anyone thought there was another solution, the producers are far happier with this option than trying to get the big bucks for selling the series later when he had OD’d and maybe killed a porn star or six in a rage or something equally avoidable and ridiculous. There goes all the residual money, and no one would option the series after a serious disaster. Possibly losing millions and zillions in the series sale(s) later on. I sense much relief all over CBS land and Producerville this week.

He’s also a father of really small kids and needs to get help for his children if not himself. I wish him well he’s got a tough road ahead of him, because he thinks he’s living the life and not sick.

I sure hope he stays in, but looking at his track record, I won’t be holding my breath either…
