Christina Aguilera National Anthem Super Bowl [VIDEO]

Christina Aguilera sings the National Anthem at the 2011 Super Bowl XLV

Christina Aguilera sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLV and suffered a malfunction, not a wardrobe malfunction, but a lyrical one!

Christina Aguilera Super Bowl Forgets Words National AnthemAbout halfway into Aguilera’s National Anthem performance the singer messed up the lyrics but quickly got back on track, saving the song. One thing they teach you about singing in front of an audience is just keep going. Even if you screw up, pick it up where you can and keep it moving. Christina Aguilera did a great job of that.

Christina over sang the National Anthem as do many singers. I just think it’s such a beautiful song that polished and simple are best. But Aguilera was ready to show up Lea Michele’s performance of America the Beautiful, and she was going to do loopty-loos with her voice to wow the nation.

I didn’t think it was that great of a performance, and for the record I really couldn’t stand Lea Michele’s voice. What a goopy, whiny voice. Her performance certainly didn’t persuade me to watch Glee..

What did you guys think of Christina Aguilera’s National Anthem performance or Lea Michele’s ‘America the Beautiful’ performance?

What a disgrace! For a supposedly professional singer to get the words to the National Anthem wrong is disgusting. Hope she gives back any money she was given for that performance and apologizes. Even if she hadn’t messed up the lyrics, she made a mess of the song with all the vocal maneuverings. It’s fine just the way it is.That was the worst rendition I’ve heard.

She looked great, but it wasn’t her best singing performance. She was straining her high pitch vocals a bit.

I think she thought about her baby at home, that`s why she messed up the lyrics.

It’s easy for us to sit and watch and complain but whose to say we wouldn’t mess the anthem up I from of millions of people…she’s sang it correctly before at NBA games and what not, I think because it was such a big dream of her’s she was nervous and just got caught up in her singing. Musicians forget their own lyrics sometimes…that they wrote and performed thousands of times. It was just a mistake let’s not hang her for it.

  • Cindy

See there was several mistakes in my writing, I’m on a phone though but still mistakes happen…like you’ve never made one!

Don’t blame Christina for the errors of her ways. You can not fault a bimbo for being a bimbo, given that her predisposition for being an airhead is constantly reinforced by those who shape her career.

Blame the idiot record labels who insist that today’s singing “stars’ must be attractive bimbos and himbos, with hardly an incisive thought in their brains.
Blame the advertising biz that insists that only singing “stars” who espouse consumerist messages should be featured in Big Media and those who have thoughtful political insights must be consigned to the periphery.

Blame the fashion biz that demands that only singing “stars” who can walk down a Victoria Secret runway are acceptable for mass consumption.

Blame the entire music industry, particularly the mostly illiterate18-25 year old “critics,” who feel that anybody who is well past the age of 30 is too old to be provided mass exposure.

Blame an entire generation of vapid overindulged kids who feel that any sense of nationalism or service for country ( such as merely learning the proper words to the national anthem) is only for poor suckers from the slums, the kinds of pathetic dupes who die for the country in distant lands so that their more affluent generational peers can party and sex to their hearts content.

Yes, don’t blame Christina for a very sick USA society that has all its priorities screwed up in the worst way. She is only a product of that sickness, not the creator of the ongoing tragedy that the American society has become today.

I really hate to say this but I think I would rather hear Roseanne sing it, at least she got the words right.

IT STUNK! THE ONLY ONE WORSE IS ROSANE’S

Some songs should be sung the way they were meant to be sung….simply and purely. The national anthem is one of those songs. Maybe if artists concentrated more on just singing the damn song instead of putting their artistic spin on it, they would remember the words.

  • Haters

You are all such queers … she sings great and made a small mistake if youre someone posting about how mad you are you must be a bitch who just looks for things to complain about while you sit on your fat talentless ass on the computer all day

  • John Bones Jones

@ Sam I look forward to hearing different artists ways of singing the national anthem while im not in favor of making mistakes if you want the same song every time just play a recording … putting an artistic spin on something is what makes them an artist Aguilera has a talent for singing a certain way and im glad she used her talent to sing us the national anthem

  • Ron Davis

Not sure I would’ve even recognized it as the national anthem except for the words. She put way too much time in trying to put herself in the limelight instead of the national anthem. Butchered!!

  • Sam

Ron….my point exactly. I personally think that she is an excellent singer and I enjoy her music. However, the national anthem is not about her! And btw, John Bones Jones…..it’s not the same song when it’s sung by different talented singers. Who’s recording of the anthem should I purchase?
