Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz to divorce – it’s official!

Ashlee Simpson has filed for divorce from Pete Wentz.

Yep, it’s true. So it seems all those divorce rumors had some validity.

Ashlee Simpson filed for divorce this morning, citing the ol’ irreconcilable differences bit. Ashlee and Pete Wentz have been married since May 2008. The couple have a 2-year old son, Bronx Mowgli (I still cringe with that name), and are planning to share custody.

Had a feeling this divorce was coming. We hadn’t seen Ashlee and Pete together in ages, they were always separate. It’s too bad, they were so adorable when they met…

Update: Ashley’s camp is saying she wanted the divorce due to Pete’s “erratic behavior,” and Pete’s camp is saying they simply grew apart. Sources connected to the couple say that after Ashlee gave up her career for family but Pete wasn’t willing to do the same. Both agree that it was not cheating that led to their divorce.
