Prince Charles proposed to Diana Spencer in February 1981 and were married on July 29, 1981 The couple were married at St Paul’s Cathedral, which sits atop the highest point of London. More than 3,500 guests attended and the wedding was televised worldwide with 750 million people tuning in.
During the wedding ceremony Princess Diana accidentally said Charles Philip Arthur George’s full name incorrectly, instead calling him, “Philip Charles Arthur George.”
Afterwards the couple enjoyed a lavish dinner with 120 guests and had their choice of 27 wedding cakes with the main one being supplied by the Naval Armed Forces. In the morning the wedding couple shared breakfast with the guests and then headed off to their honeymoon.
Princess Diana’s gown was designed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel and had more than 10,000 pearls sewn on it.
Prince Charles and Princess Diana had their first son Princes William the following year and his little brother Harry (Henry) in 1984.
