MIKE STARR DEAD [Alice in Chains/ Celebrity Rehab]

Mike Starr of Alice in CHains and Celebrity Rehab is dead

Awful news. MIKE STARR of Alice in Chains and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew is dead.

We all knew that Mike Starr had been fighting drug addiction for years and sadly he lost the battle today. Mike Starr is dead at the age of 44.

Appearing on Celebrity Rehab in 2009, Mike Starr was on the right path to sobriety. We thought he had overcome his drug problems and he looked good at the Celebrity Rehab reunion, but then last month he was busted with drugs. Xanax and Opana pills. It seemed he may have slipped, and we hoped that he had gotten back on the right path, but instead it is with a heavy heart that we have to report he is dead.

Mike Starr spoke with Layne Staley’s (lead singer of Alice in Chains who died of heroin overdose) mother on Celebrity Rehab and tried to bring comfort to her. He assured her that he would try to take care of himself.  So sad. She is having to grieve for Mike Starr now as well.

Rest in peace, Mike. So sad you didn’t make it, buddy.

UPDATE: Mike Starr was found dead in a Salt Lake City, Utah home. Police were called around 1:40pm.

Tragic, of all the people on that season I was rooting for him the most. It just shows, every day of sobriety is a struggle, and sometimes we just can’t overcome. Rest In Peace.

First off shame on Dr. Drew? For what? Not keeping tabs on him 24/7? He did everything for him. If it wasnt for the show he would have been dead earlier.
I really wanted Mike to do Ibogaine, but nobody outside of a small group of people know what it is.
