Dionne Warwick was fired on Celebrity Apprentice
Ding, dong the wicked witch is gone!
Having never known what kind of person Dionne Warwick was, I had always just assumed she was a kind, sweet older lady who the Celebrity Apprentice women would look up to. Well, they didn’t exactly look up to her, but she did look down on them!
From the very beginning, Dionne Warwick was catty, feisty and downright vicious. She made Marlee Matlin feel handicapped, called Niki Taylor a “hussy,” and after being fired Sunday, called NeNe Leakes a “coward.”
But how did it get to that point? Read on!
The Celebrity Apprentice task this week was for the teams to create a commercial for the ACN video phone. The men’s team, Backbone, was led by Lil’ Jon, and the ladies team, ASAP, was led by NeNe Leakes. I love both of these two, so I was excited to see how each of them would do.
The Celebrity Apprentice men worked together beautifully, ever since that rough first week with Richard Hatch as Project Manager the men have worked together like a finely tuned machine. The Celebrity Apprentice women though, what a trainwreck. Dionne Warwick snapping at people, Star Jones taking control of every situation and Hope Dworaczyk just standing around, not speaking or contributing, with her over-inflated flounder mouth agape.

The ACN video phone commercials were quite different from one another, the women took a safe approach and the men went for the risky route. It paid off for the men in the long run, their commercial was an absolute hit and Jose Canseco’s brief cameo as a gay boyfriend served as the perfect punchline. Risqué or not, their humor combined with Lil Jon’s infectious hosting skills won the Celebrity Apprentice task for the week. The ladies, on the other hand, suffered their third straight loss.
In the boardroom NeNe Leakes was all over the place emotionally. She was upset that she didn’t win money for her charity, Atlanta Union Mission in Support of My Sister’s House for Women Against Domestic Abuse, and admitted that she had been in an abusive relationship in the past. Marlee Matlin and LaToya Jackson also been in abusive relationships it was learned.
The women seemed to zero in on LaToya first, then Dionne Warwick. It all came down to Dionne leaving early one evening when the rest of the team was doing editing together. She said she had asked project manager NeNe if she could leave nearly, NeNe denied that Dionne had asked, but instead “told” her she would be leaving.
Putting nails in her own coffin, Dionne told Donald Trump when asked who she would fire: “I’d fire me.” Her tone of voice suggested she was thinking, “Fine, you bastards, I’m out of here!” When asked to explain Dionne told Trump: “I don’t want to be the clog in the wheel that stops it.”
“In a way you’re quitting,” Donald Trump responded. “Do you have a chip on your shoulder? You think everyone is against you.”
Dionne then told Trump that she would love to stay on Celebrity Apprentice. “I’d love to stay because I have a lot to offer and think I’m a strong player. I left the editing bay because I didn’t feel I was needed there.”
After once again telling Trump that she wanted to stay on the show he looked her in the eye and said, “It’s too late. Dionne, YOU’RE FIRED!”
Just outside the boardroom NeNe went over and hugged Dionne, who hugged her back – sorta – then stuck like a Cobra. “You’re a coward, baby,” she hissed at NeNe before calling her a liar and leaving in the elevator.
When the cameras went back to the Celebrity Apprentice boardroom and Donald Trump, he told his son, Don Trump Jr.: “She looked me in the eye and challenged me to fire her and NO ONE gets away with that!”
Not even Dionne Warwick.
