Keanu Reeves talks about Bill & Ted 3, the new movie!
The original writers of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991) are putting together a script for a third Bill & Ted movie.
Keanu Reeves, who played Ted, will be 47 this year, and Alex Winter, who played Bill, will be 46.
Talking with MTV, Keanu Reeves revealed that a script for Bill & Ted 3 may only be weeks away. “I believe the writers are six weeks away from a draft,” he acknowledged. Keanu then peered into the camera and added: “No pressure, guys!”
Last year Alex Winter also talked of a Bill & Ted 3, saying the idea was always there, it was just how they should go about it. He told MTV:
“We kicked around the idea over the years and had always thought if we could make something that was as kind of genuine in spirit as the originals and without falling prey to kind of retro cynicism or something that was unnecessary, it would be worth doing. Now the cat’s out of the bag, and the truth is that, yeah, we have finally hit upon an idea that we think is pretty great.”
“We’ve been working on it for the past couple of years, honing that idea and getting it into shape. They (writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon) are working on it now. The bottom line is that we still all feel like we need to sit down and look at a script and see if it’s everything that it can be before we set about doing anything with it.”
Is it too late for a Bill & Ted 3? Or, with the right writing, could it be the perfect ending to a goofy trilogy?
