Chaz Bono promotes new book in NYC

Chaz Bono, formerly Chastity Bono, promoted his new book at Borders in NYC on Monday.

Bono chronicles his journey from female to male in a new book, ‘Transition: The Story of How I Became A Man.’ Chaz was accompanied by his fiancee, Jennifer Elia, who has been at Chaz Bono’s side throughout his entire process.

Chaz is getting bigger and bigger every time we see him. He needs to slow down on the chow and take up jogging or something. It’s certainly not a healthy weight for Chaz, whose face is getting lost in his neck. But I digress…

Chaz, who turned 42 in March, came out to his parents when he was 18-years-old and still Chastity Bono. Chastity became a roll model for young gays in the mid 1990′s, a time when it was still common for people to remain “in the closet.” She wrote a book, became an activist and took a proactive role in the gay community.

When Chastity turned 39 she began the process of transforming from female-to-male. She changed her legal name to “Chaz” and her gender to “male”. Chaz has since starred in the Sundance documentary, Becoming Chaz, which just aired on Oprah Winfrey’s network, OWN.
