NBC’s Fear Factor is coming back to television in 2011!
One of reality television’s first stunt competition shows is coming back to NBC, Fear Factor!
Fear Factor, with Joe Rogan as the host, premiered on NBC back in June 2001 and ran until September of 2006. Even though the show has been off the air for five years, rating of it’s re-runs were so high that execs decided to bring it back. In fact, NBC has already ordered 10 episodes.
How will the show be different this time? Well, for starters, there is HD available these days, which is expected to bring an entirely new dimension to the show. Fear Factor promises to bring even more dangerous stunts than before (including eating gross things) and better camera coverage this time around.
As for the host of Fear Factor, no word if it will be comedian Joe Rogan who originally hosted the show. We have a feeling that NBC will be making Joe a heck of an offer though. Endemol North America chairman David Goldberg had this to say about Joe Rogan returning to Fear Factor in 2011:
“Joe was a great host. I think his brand and his personality is associated with this show. This has all happened fairly fast. We’ll sit down with Joe and see if something he even wants to do. He’ll certainly be very high on the list.”
We sure hope so.
