Puscifer Debuts New Song: “Man Overboard”

Puscifer’s Maynard James Keenan

October 18th cannot come soon enough.

This is the day Puscifer’s second studio album Conditions of My Parole, will be released.  Puscifer, the most recent musical side project of Maynard James Keenan (the enigmatic front man to both Tool and A Perfect Circle), has delivered before, and after hearing “Man Overboard”, I’m pretty sure they’ll deliver again.

In an exclusive interview about the new album, MJK tells SPIN.com, “Musically, it’s like Twin Peaks in the desert.”  Recorded at his vineyards in Northern Arizona, SPIN describes “Man Overboard” as a “shadowy industrial boil with revving-Harley guitar riffs, a rolling-tank bass line, and skyward synths fit for a goth choir. And this all is carefully sprinkled with electronic plinks and patters to heighten drama and summon those hairs on the back of your neck.”

I can’t help but hear a little Bauhaus influence here.  Like Peter Murphy, MJK has a seductive and haunting voice that quickly lures you into some sort of trance.

This song totally gets my “two snaps, a twist, and a kiss”!

What are your thoughts on Puscifer and “Man Overboard”?
