SPACE NEEDLE CONTEST: “SPACE RACE 2012!”

Seattle Space Needle contest – “Space Race 2012,” win a trip to space!

The Space Needle in Seattle is having an amazing contest in celebration of it’s 50th anniversary where YOU can WIN a trip to space!

The Space Needle, erected in 1962, will celebrate its landmark anniversary with the amazing contest,  ”Space Race 2012.” One lucky person will win a trip to space in a G-Force One, enjoying not only an amazing view, but an astounding 6-minutes of ZERO GRAVITY!

Ron Sevart, President and CEO of the Seattle Space Needle, says that the iconic structure wanted to go big for it’s 50th – out of this world, even. “We went back to 1962 and questioned why the Space Needle was built,” said Sevart. “It was an optimistic time, a forward-looking time, right in the middle of the space race. The private business of taking people to space is right in front of us, it felt so natural for us to build a contest around that.”

The Space Needle was built for the 1962 World’s Fair. At the time of its completion it was the tallest structure West of the Mississippi. The Space Needle is designed to withstand earthquakes up to 9 on the Richter Scale and can endure Category 5 hurricane-force winds.

The Seattle Space Needle contest,  ”Space Race 2012,” is multi-tiered, so it won’t be easy to walk away with this one. You’ll have to earn it.

In order to get the process rolling, you (and an expected million others) will need to enter at the Space Needle’s official website. You can do this now through the end of the year. http://www.spaceneedle.com/ After that comes pure LUCK. A computer will be used to randomly select 1,000 people to move on to Stage-2 of the Space Race 2012 contest. Those 1000 contest entrants will then have to record a 1-minute video that people will vote on. Winner gets the amazing trip to space.

A brilliant contest that I am sure will go viral in no time. They say one million are expected to enter, I am going to venture out there and guess that will be double. I’ll be entering for sure! As a Seattleite it would truly be an honor to do something so unreal…even though the actual thought of it is enough to give me butterflies!

Will YOU be entering the  ”Space Race 2012″ contest? Go do it! You only live once!
