Desperate Housewives Ending in 2012

ABC is finally putting Desperate Housewives to bed.

After eight seasons, ABC has confirmed that the upcoming season will be Desperate Housewives’ last.

Marc Cherry, the show’s creator, had this to say:  ”This is something that’s weighed on my mind for quite a while now. I’ve been working in television for 23 years. I’m very aware of people overstaying their welcome. I just didn’t want that to happen to ‘Desperate Housewives.’”

If you ask me, the show was over four seasons ago. I used to LOVE it, especially the first few seasons, but it got so far off the rails that I quit DVRing it last year because I could barely struggle through the ridiculousness of it all.

In it’s final season, Desperate Housewives is expected to finally return to it’s original storyline, with Mary Alice Young‘s suicide being the focal point. It’s not yet known which characters, if any, from the show’s past will be brought back for the final season.

Oh, I totally agree with you! I stopped watching Desperate Housewives back in 2007/2008. I keep wanting to catch it up but have never been invested enough to do so. I might make an effort for the final season though, especially if it goes back to the original storyline.
