Former Fugees Singer Lauryn Hill
Lauryn Hill’s former guitar player, Jay Gore, has filed a new lawsuit against the singer, in which he asserts he was not only cheated out of thousands of dollars by Hill, but was a victim of constant verbal abuse.
Gore says he wasn’t the only one suffering from the diva’s verbal chastising. According to him, the former Fugees singer continuously reproached her band members behind the scenes during their 2007 European tour.
In legal documents TMZ has obtained, Gore mentioned that Hill “exhibited the type of behavior for which she had gained public notoriety which contributed to a hostile work environment,” saying that, “after shows, Hill would demand that the musicians and road support personnel attend meetings where she would engage in a person-by-person critique and berating.”
Gore goes on to say that once, “Hill made a statement in front of the tour personnel to the effect that ‘I can’t believe I am paying you fools, you should be paying me.’”
Gore is asking for $20,000, and believes the lawsuit gives a “voice” to the other musicians who were similarly “mistreated” by Hill.
I’m not so surprised with the accusations, but Hill’s behavior is nothing new among celebrity divas. Not thinking Gore will get far with this lawsuit unfortunately, except for the money Hill might owe him.
