Adam Carolla Attempts To Apologize For Being An Idiot

After making some careless, irresponsible remarks about the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community on his podcast The Adam Carolla Show last week, the outspoken radio personality has made a pretty sad attempt at an apology.

In the controversial podcast, the former Loveline co-host was heard asking the question, “When did we start giving a sh** about these people?” while adding that members of the LGBT community should “shut up” for “ruining his life” for bringing up equality issues.  Carolla then put the cherry on top of his homophobic rant by saying that instead of using the letters LGBT to represent the community, the letters “YUCK” were a better fit.  Nice.

Today, GLAAD (The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) released a statement about Carolla’s comments today, calling him out on what they called his “gross intolerance”.

Apparently, this is not a single incident for Carolla, who has a history of anti-gay and racist remarks, one in which he said on Loveline that gay parents were “not as good as straight parents.”

Regarding the recent backlash Carolla has received about the comments, he released a mini apology via his rep, to EW.com, saying, “I’m sorry my comments were hurtful. I’m a comedian, not a politician.”

I typically like a comedian that is a little on the non-PC side, but there is a fine line to be aware of if you’re in the entertainment biz (or any biz for that matter!).  It’s one thing to make a funny joke, even veering on the controversial side, but it’s another to be just completely intolerant with nothing but hate in your presentation.

I’m thinking Mr. Carolla should learn the fine art of STFU once in a while, if ya get my drift!

Side Note:  I find it odd that back in 2010, Adam posed in support for the NOH8 Campaign photo shoot that opposed California Proposition 8, the prop that would eliminate the right for same sex couples to marry.  See photo below:

When are people going to get over it? I wonder about Adam’s folks. They must not be as good as parents who taught their kids to be accepting.
