Green Day Honors Amy Winehouse With Song

Punk Rockers Green Day

Green Day invaded my old hometown of Costa Mesa, California last week and played a secret show at the Tiki Bar.

The pop-punkers played a total of 15 new songs, which included a song that pays tribute to Amy Winehouse, NME.com reports.

Though the band has not officially confirmed their tribute song, simply called “Amy”, is about the late singer Winehouse, one can put the pieces together from the lyrics.  (Check them out HERE)

Some of them including the lines, “Are your eyes just singing the blues”, “Did you tattoo a lucky charm”, and “27 gone without a trace”.

Along with the song’s lyrics, the band posted a message thanking fans for coming to their secret show, which helped raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and gave an update on where they’re at in the writing process for their new album.

The band wrote:

“We have been in jamming and writing new songs for the last few months. It felt great to play these new Green Day songs live and share our “work in progress”. Stay tuned for more! Love Green Day”

Warning: the audio is not the best quality and is pretty muffled.  So, use your imagination!
