Report: Amy Winehouse did not die from a drug overdose
Toxicology reports indicate that Amy Winehouse did not have drugs in her system at the time of her death on July 23, 2011.
Her family has insisted from the beginning that they believed drugs were not involved and that they thought she may have died from alcohol withdrawal. They were half right.
Tests confirm that Amy Winehouse did have alcohol in her system but no illegal drugs. Was there enough alcohol in her system to kill her? It has yet to be determined.
Winehouse’s family has released the following statement to the media:
“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death. Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death. The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.”
I’m sure the family is thrilled to hear this news. For Amy’s legacy, if anything. Not that it makes it any easier, but at least they don’t have to hear about her dying with a needle in her arm. I’m curious though, what about the guy who claimed to have sold Amy a ton of drugs the night before her death?
There’s really not much else to be said about Winehouse’s death except that it’s tragic, sad, and is a tremendous loss to the music world. Although Winehouse supposedly left behind TONS of unreleased music, we’ll have to sit tight before anything is released.
