Christina Aguilera Doesn’t Play Weddings For Free

Christina Aguilera NOT singing at Kim Kardashian’s wedding

Kris Jenner would have hired either Christina Aguilera or Jennifer Lopez to sing at daughter Kim Kardashian’s wedding reception… if she didn’t have to pay for them.

You really have to hand it those Kardashians, boy. They somehow figured out how to turn Kim Kardashian’s wedding to Kris Humphries over the weekend into a money-making venture for the family, and they did so mostly by selling more than they were buying. They sold the exclusive photo rights. They got free swag from a number of vendors, who just wanted their names associated with the wedding. They figured out how to get everything they wanted for free, and sell off everything anyone was willing to pay them for to turn a profit on the nuptials. But you can’t always get what you want… and when it comes to the desire to have Christina Aguilera sing at your wedding for free, well, it just ain’t happening.

According to Reality TV Magazine, Kris Jenner had designs on having a big name star like Christina Aguilera or Jennifer Lopez perform for the newlyweds at the wedding reception, but the only problem was that she wasn’t willing to fork over the cash money needed to make such a grandiose idea happen. With a price tag in the neighborhood of $1 million, Kim’s mom refused to meet such a quote, deeming them not worth the money for their time. Instead she decided to go on the cheap with a DJ and Earth, Wind & Fire, who I didn’t even know was still alive until hearing this news. My DJ played “September” at my wedding reception, too, but I don’t know that I could have taken a few hours of the legendary R&B/funk band for the occasion.

I can see going with a DJ, but, for all the hype the Kardashians create surrounding everything they do, it’s a little disappointing to think that they hired House Entertainment or the Gig Masters. Granted, I just need some Lil Jon and Usher to get my party started at a wedding, but, if you’ve got the cash to spend, why not hire them to come in and perform in-person? I can’t imagine Xtina’s “Beautiful” sounding better off some guy’s iTunes than it would in the flesh.
