“Uncle Frank” Potenza, a regular on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Kimmel’s uncle, has died at the age of 77.
What a character Uncle Frank was. He was not only a security guard for the show, but he also made regular appearances and was quite the ham. Interestingly enough, Uncle Frank was a former NYC police officer and also served as Frank Sinatra’s bodyguard for a time.
Jimmy Kimmel has taken to his Twitter to remember Uncle Frank. He posted: “thank you for your kind words about a very kind man – my Uncle Frank – who passed away this morning.” He has also retweeted many fans memories of Uncle Frank and some of them will bring a mile to the face of many of his fans:
@mattropolis_23 – “@jimmykimmel I once wrote a letter to your Uncle Frank, and he wrote me back, on the back of the envelope I sent. Funniest letter ever.”
@RachelRipp – “@jimmykimmel He was everyone’s Uncle Frank…thank you for sharing him w/ us!!! He made me smile and wish he was mine everyday!”
@CoryReeder – “@jimmykimmel RIP Uncle Frank, his comic timing took a lifetime to earn. Today I eat cake for him.
Rest in Peace, Uncle Frank. You were a total doll and will be missed by many.
