Dave Navarro and Marilyn Manson have a sick and twisted friendship
Apparently, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro is a real prankster. In an interview with Q Magazine, Navarro takes Manson’s goth-street cred down a notch after making public some very sensitive information: Manson gets totally grossed out by the sight of blood. Who knew?
Navarro tells the music mag, “I don’t know if this is funny, but when I was using intravenous drugs, I used to go in his bathroom and spray his mirror with blood from my syringe. It freaked him out. He would get his assistant to put on rubber gloves and clean it up.” He goes on to say, “Right after, I’d go and do it again just to push him. I thought it was funny to be able to freak out Marilyn Manson.”
Hmmm…’funny’ isn’t the word I would be using for that story.
Navarro and Manson collaborated together when Navarro lent his guitar skills on Manson’s Mechanical Animals album in 1998, for the song, I Don’t Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me).
Navarro’s well-documented heroin addiction took hold of him for most of the time he was in Jane’s Addiction in the late 80’s and through the 90’s, and even after the band first split in ‘91, but has since gotten clean. Jane’s Addiction has made their loyal fans happy, as they have once again reunited and are due to release The Great Escape Artist on September 27. The record will be the fourth studio album for the group since 2003.
Looking forward to it! And glad the blood syringe days are behind him. Eck!
