Lionsgate premieres its first footage from THE HUNGER GAMES during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
If you wanted to catch the first look at the next film series looking to most likely capitalize on the TWILIGHT crowd once that saga ends with the two-part BREAKING DAWN, then the MTV VMAs was the place to be last night. We were able to catch a teasing glimpse at THE HUNGER GAMES, the first installment of the Suzanne Collins best-selling trilogy of books set for adaptation next March.
I haven’t had a chance to read up on the books just yet, which is why I’m probably a bit disappointed with what Lionsgate and MTV gave us. That’s what happens when all I get is Jennifer Lawrence walking through the forest, running away from explosions and a voiceover and then firing an arrow at the film’s logo. That’s not enough to get my psyched, and if that’s enough to get you pumped as an actual fan of THE HUNGER GAMES, then you’re just lying to yourself. There’s not much here to go on at all.
