Chaz Bono causes controversy by taking part of Dancing with the Stars
Welcome to 2011.
You’d think in this day and age people would finally be accepting of one another regardless of sex, race, lifestyle or social status.
Yeah right.
ABC is receiving a huge backlash for casting Chaz Bono, a transgendered man, on the latest season of Dancing with the Stars. Nevermind that Carson Kressley (a gay man) is on the show too, people are pissed off about Chaz. DWTS fans are accusing ABC of having a “gay agenda” but Conrad Green the executive producer of Dancing with the Stars told The Hollywood Reporter that is not the case, and the numbers prove it. ”We don’t have an agenda of any sorts. I think of the 120 celebrities we’ve put on the show, we’ve had, I think now, three transgender or gay contestants. If that’s a homosexual agenda, we’re not doing very well at it.”
Many of the comments are really disgusting, and some viewers claim they won’t be watching DWTS because of Chaz Bono. I’m not buying it though. They’ll be glued to their television sets to see if Chaz can cut a rug, they’re not fooling me.
Being as Chaz Bono is only 3 years (and one day) older than me I have pretty much followed him from the days when he was Chastity, the darling little girl on the Sony & Cher Show. I remember her as a politically charged teenager and a daughter who was shunned by her mother after “coming out.” I like her. Now “him,” of course, and I don’t understand why people waste so much energy on hating people who are different than them. I mean, so WHAT!? I think I’m one of those rare people who can actually get along with people who have different political views from myself, or religious views or WHATEVER. Not everyone can do that and it literally boggles my mind! What a waste of energy to use the time that you have here on Earth to be hating someone because they have opinions, or are different.
Gawd, what a boring, cookie cutter world it would be if we were all the same. Especially if we were all as hateful and close-minded as some of these so-called “fans.”
