Marilyn Manson and Shia LaBeouf promote Born Villain in L.A. (Jimmy/Fame Pictures)
The two men met while at a The Kills concert and instantly hit it off. Shia, a longtime Manson fan, introduced himself and offered to direct Manson’s next video. After showing Manson his work (including Kid Cudi‘s “Maniac”) Manson was sold. The pair have created a short film rather than a music video for “Born Villain,” and there is a photo book as well. 150 fans who purchased the book and were lucky enough to score tickets to the rare book signing/screening got to see the unlikely duo in action last night. No other book signings/ screenings are planned.
Shia recently spoke about the project: “This, for me, this is a really cool diversion for me when I’m not making a movie. It gives me an opportunity to work with musicians I admire who I would otherwise never get to work with in any other capacity. I really have a fun time doing it. It allows me to be creative in another art form and work with heroes.
“I also think there are fans of mine who aren’t fans of Manson’s and vice versa; that’s why I think our collaboration is interesting. I don’t really see it on paper. I don’t see fans of mine who went to see ‘Holes’ when they were 12 loving this. I don’t think my audience is the only thing I should exercise my artistic muscle for. I don’t necessarily always do things for the audience; this is one of those.
“I love Marilyn. Manson is like a brother to me now. He’s a real sweet dude, a real close friend.”
Uh, yeah, real sweet. Check this effed up shiz out. It’s like a horror flick, except it’s tons freakier than 99% of the crap out there. I’m talking this is the stuff nightmares are made of, kiddos. Watch the video and see more pics of Shia and Marilyn after the cut – you know you want to!
