The artists behind those little unique logos are so creative, and today’s no exception.
Today would have been Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday, and Google (UK Google) wanted to make it special by honoring him with a cool animation. The video plays Queen’s 1978 hit “Don’t Stop Me Now” in the background of a wacky adventure Freddie is on, which includes playing on stage with the band, flying into space and riding on the backs of tigers. Some of the animation takes on a sort of video game feel, and is quite amusing to watch.
Referring to the doodle, Queen guitarist Brian May wrote in a Google blog post, “Freddie was fully focused, never allowing anything or anyone to get in the way of his vision for the future. He was truly a free spirit. There are not many of these in the world. To achieve this, you have to be, like Freddie, fearless — unafraid of upsetting anyone’s apple cart.”
According to CNN, Google will be sharing the tribute for the U.S. Queen fans Tuesday, out of respect for the Labor Day holiday.
