Bon Jovi visited a fire station in Manhattan Wednesday to honor the memory of the victims of 9/11, on the 10-year anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks.
The rock group performed a moving rendition of “America The Beautiful” for the television special “NFL Kickoff 2011: Back to Football”, which aired Saturday, September 10th, the Associated Press reports.
The band, who also sang the song a decade ago on September 23, 2001 at the first NFL game following the September 11th tragedy, noted that this show was just “as moving this time as it was then.”
Having recognized firefighters and police officers attending the 2011 event, the New Jersey-born Jon Bon Jovi said he felt a similar companionship that he felt the first time singing the song.
He added, “I want the country of Sept. 12th again, when everybody came together. We said we’d never forget and now we can live up to it.” Amen!
Bon Jovi, who has a little bit of downtime now, can finally take a little breather. The band just ended their fourteenth concert tour Bon Jovi Live in July 2011.
