Scott Weiland’s Christmas Record

Santa will be delivering some Scott Weiland to you this holiday season!

When I listen to Christmas tunes, it usually involves a lot of Elvis with some traditional ditties thrown in there, but this year, that’s gonna change.

Scott Weiland, lead singer to Stone Temple Pilots and former front-man to Velvet Revolver, is preparing to release a Christmas record called The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (from Rhino Records), due out on shelves October 4, 2011.

Apparently, this has been in the works since 2010, but had been put on the backburner…until NOW!

Talking about the ‘sound’ he was looking for the holiday recording, Weiland said, “You know, strings, upright bass, jazz horns, piano, and guitar. I’m sort of picking various versions of these songs, because they’ve been covered so many times, but my favorite versions — with a little twist.” (via Gibson.com)

The cool thing about this record is Weiland incorporates an eclectic mix of musical genres with the classic holiday songs, from big band swing, to reggae, to bossa nova!

Here’s the track list:

1. “The Christmas Song”?

2. “I’ll be Home for Christmas”?

3. “White Christmas”?

4. “Silent Night”?

5. “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”?

6. “What Child is This?”?

7. “Winter Wonderland”?

8. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”?

9. “Happy Christmas and Many More”?

10. “O Holy Night”

This is the second record of remakes for the rock n’ roll crooner this year, having just released A Compilation of Scott Weiland Cover Songs on August 30th.  On the album, Weiland is featured singing his versions of songs by The Beatles, Nirvana, David Bowie and more!

These are two albums I will be for sure picking up!
