INXS Singer JD Fortune Gets Canned For The Second Time

JD Fortune, in November 2005

JD Fortune, INXS’ second singer since winning the title in 2005’s reality show Rock Star: INXS, has been dumped once again, with hardly any notice!

According to the Herald Sun, the rest of the band has been working on a new album sans the 38-year-old Canadian singer, but unfortunately nobody told him that!

Fortune recently tweeted, “As of now I have not been invited to be a part of INXS’s new music.”  Ouch!

The rest of the band has apparently released a song called “Tiny Summer”, on their website, with an unknown Irish vocalist, who’s identity has yet to be revealed.

Back in 2009, the singer was let go for the first time after touring with the band, and with reported substance abuse problems, he admitted himself into rehab.  Fortune says he ended up homeless and resorted to living in a car.  Once re-hired, Fortune contributed to just one song on INXS’ 2010 album Original Sin.

The legendary Michael Hutchence, who was the band’s original lead singer for 20 years, passed away in 1997, at age 37.

Although I think the band has every right to do what’s in the whole group’s best interest, maybe a little advance notice to the lead singer could have made the transition a tad more seamless, and less brutal on all egos involved.  What do you all think?
