The crew of TWO AND A HALF MEN don’t find Ashton Kutcher as funny as Charlie Sheen on the show.
Ashton Kutcher doesn’t deserve any of the credit for the big rating TWO AND A HALF MEN’s season premiere landed earlier this week. Charlie Sheen still gets that, as viewers tuned in to find out exactly how the show would handle its ex-star’s departure. But don’t be surprised if Kutcher receives a good portion of the blame for the show’s shortcomings moving forward, as the show is nowhere near as good as it once was… and that’s according to people who actually work on it.
According to E!, the cast and crew would much rather have Ashton Kutcher on-set than Charlie Sheen, knowing that Kutcher isn’t going to run off into piles of hookers drenched in cocaine on a whim. “[Ashton] is really a nice guy. Just a nice guy. And he’s OK on set. He gets the job done—that’s what we all want,” said one insider. However, consistency and quality are two totally different things, and, even with only one episode airing, the differences between the two actors and what they bring to the table are pretty apparent. “He’s just not as funny as Charlie. Not that we’d want Charlie back if you doubled our salaries.”
Kutcher was also referred to as the “safe replacement” with the thinking that the show “just isn’t the same anymore.” I don’t know why anyone thought this would turn out well, especially with Ashton Kutcher as the choice. What has Ashton Kutcher ever touched that turned to gold? Nothing. What has Ashton Kutcher ever done that’s been either funny or entertaining? Nothing. TWO AND A HALF MEN wasn’t that good to begin with. Now it’s only a matter of time.
I TOLD YOU SO.
Wow! While I agree the show is now absolutely absurd (although I think its due to the writing). Having Ashton play a “stupid” character for one, is, well—stupid. Thank God Jon and Concherta and Holland are absolutely hilarious or I wouldn’t even bother to turn it on. They need a raise. I don’t think we should be putting Ashton down like that. He’s trying and is doing what the script says. Let’s face it, Two Men is just not going to make it unless they bring Sheen back, which I’m sure they could arrange a stunt to do, but from what you say they said about him, I don’t know if he’d go back anyway. Its a shame he messed his life up, and I do pray for him as I would anyone that was a tragic mess. I hope he gets his life together, and maybe the cast and Lorre can find forgiveness in their heart.
