George Clooney Throws Down The Gauntlet On Us Weekly

George Clooney calls for Us Weekly to issue a correction on their story that Clooney’s ex Elisabetta Canalis sent him angry text messages after learning of his new girlfriend.

George Clooney doesn’t care if you report on his personal life. In fact, most often, he won’t even pay it peace of mind. But when you start telling blatant lies, that’s when George Clooney will step in, set the record straight and call you out on your shoddy journalism.

George Clooney had a a rare conversation with TMZ about his love life, regarding a story in the most recent Us Weekly, claiming that DANCING WITH THE STARS contestant and his ex Elisabetta Canalis bombarded him with angry text messages upon learning he’s been shacking up with leggy ex-DANCING WITH THE STARS competitor Stacy Keibler. According to Clooney, that particular story “was completely fabricated in order to sell magazines. I never comment on my personal life unless it affects others…and this lie affects others.” Uh oh… Us Weekly appears to have woken the sleeping giant. Granted, they’re going to get all kinds of free press, because of this, but it also puts their journalistic integrity in question on everything moving forward. Now, as soon as you see a copy of Us Weekly at the supermarket or on the newsstand, your immediate reaction will be “So what did they make up this time?”

Furthermore, Clooney put the onus on the magazine to issue a correction to their story and basically admit to lying, because, as George so succinctly puts it, there are only two people who would know if that happened or not, and since he didn’t speak to them, they’ve got no facts for their story. “Since I would be the only actual witness, I ask you to correct your story immediately, but that would assume you cared at all about telling the truth.” Well, George, your math doesn’t exactly add up, because his ex may have been the one with the loose lips… although I doubt that since it’d paint her as a crazy lady… but then again, never underestimate a woman scorned. I’ve seen upset people do dumber things. But you’ve got to respect the balls on George Clooney here, calling out Us Weekly to issue a correction or be labeled as liars. That’s what we call a throwdown.
