Susan Boyle has good taste in music
Sassy Scottish singer Susan Boyle has stepped outside the (musical) box once more and has paid her respect to the legendary electro/synthpop band Depeche Mode, by recording her own version of “Enjoy The Silence”…A cover I never thought I would see…or hear!
Boyle included the 90’s megahit on her upcoming album Someone to Watch Over Me (out November 1st), which is the third record for the songstress, who won the world over since she appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.
Boyle spoke with Rolling Stone about the famous song. “The melody of the song is just beautiful, but really that lyric sounds like it will touch so many people in the way it touched me,” Boyle says of the song’s famous line, “Words are very unnecessary/They can only do harm.”
You’ve got to hand it to Boyle for the risks she takes. She’s covered Lou Reed, Madonna, and The Monkees before, and now Depeche Mode. The woman has spunk! I’m not a major fan of this slowed-down take on the song, but do like how her voice has a haunting quality to it.
