Dave Grohl’s calling the shots on a new rockumentary
Since Nirvana’s Nevermind hit its 20th anniversary in late September, we seem to have been in Nirvana-rama, with everything reminding us of how great that album and band really were, and you know what, I like it!
Well, Dave Grohl is keeping the spirit alive, and is said to be directing a documentary about the famous studio were Nirvana recorded Nevermind, called Sound City Studios. This legendary studio in Van Nuys, California has been the place where many great musicians have recorded their hit tracks including Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac (the list goes on and on: No Doubt, Weezer, Chris Cornell, okay I’ll stop).
REO Speedwagon’s lead singer Kevin Cronin has let the cat out of the bag regarding Grohl’s musical undertaking. Cronin, who has also recorded at the studio in the past, told Artisan News (via NME.com), “Dave is working on this project based on a studio that we all used to work at. It’s really interesting. I probably shouldn’t be talking about it – Dave will probably announce it. But it’s very cool. I’ve been in contact with him lately.” He goes on to say, “There was a studio that all of us worked at, where they recorded ‘Nevermind’, and I know that it meant a lot to a lot of artists. So Dave is just kind of putting together something to get the stories that all the artists had about that studio.”
Just that little amount of info will keep me excited, but I’d love to learn more about what bands will be covered in the film, and when we can expect its release, or at the very least, a title!
Quick question…Are you excited about the this rock doc??
Hell yeah!! Just like PJ20 before it, cannot wait to see some behind the scenes Nirvana action! Escpecially with Dave behind it!
