Queen of originality: Bai Ling, just in time for Halloween
It’s funny how some people can be in showbiz so long and remain relevant, confident, and sure of their place in Hollywood, and then there are some who have been there a while and once they start fading (or already have), they lash out at the ‘new kids on the block’.
Well I would hardly call 25-year-old Lady Gaga a ‘new kid’, although it has only been about 3 years since she got this blinding mega stardom (it just seems like it’s been so much longer), but compared to 45-year-old actress Bai Ling who has been in the business longer (her first big American role I can think of was 1994’s The Crow), I guess Gaga is what some would call a newbie.
Anyway, Examiner.com reports that Ling, whose most recent ‘work’ has been on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew for help with her alcoholism, visited Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show Monday, and shared her thoughts on her fashion archrival Gaga.
Talking about Gaga stealing her style, Ling told Stern, “Yes, [she stole my look] for sure, and I hope one day she’ll dress like me and come on your show.” Oh brother.
It’s too bad Bai Ling has to resort to picking on other celebrities that have absolutely nothing in common with her except for the fact that they’re female and like to dress wacky…like that hasn’t been done before (hmm, Bette Midler, Cher, Bjork, a million other people). It happened before Ling and it will happen after Gaga.
The thing is, nothing and no one is 100% original anymore, and everybody copies everybody. You just gotta make it ‘yours’ and put a spin on it…oh and talent helps.
