‘30 Seconds To Mars’ Guinness Book Record

30 Seconds To Mars will be a Guinness Book record holder in December

What will touring non-stop for two years promoting your latest album earn you other than a lack of sleep, lowered immunity, and a constant feeling of being homesick?  A spot in the Guinness Book of World Records silly!

That’s exactly what Jared Leto’s band 30 Seconds To Mars is going to do.  The crew is set to make history during their December 7th concert in New York.  The performance, which will mark their 300th show promoting their 2009 album (the third for the band) This Is War, will be held at NY’s Hammerstein Ballroom, according to NME.com.

The record they will be setting will be for the “Most Shows Performed During A Single Album Cycle”.  Although I never knew such a record existed, I say, “Good for them!”

Talking to MTV News about the band’s upcoming Guinness Book World Record and their planned set of December shows celebrating the achievement, Leto says, “We have been on the road for an incredible and insane two years and thought what better way to celebrate the end of this phenomenal journey than with a week of special shows in New York City.”

Leto adds, “We thought documenting this for posterity with the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ would be fun especially as we aren’t any good at growing our fingernails very long or cultivating the world’s largest squash.”

Not sure what the heck he meant by that last statement but either way, I’m happy for the boys.  Personally I like 30 Seconds To Mars.  Rarely do you see such an amazing actor (Jared Leto) make such a successful crossover to music, that has by the way, garnered a ton of awards.  It’s hard to believe they formed the band more than a decade ago…wow, how time flies!
