Jon Bon Jovi Opens New Community Restaurant ‘Soul Kitchen’

Jon Bon Jovi with his restaurant Soul Kitchen

Jon Bon Jovi has been pretty well known for not only his music and acting, but also for his charitable work, and he has outdone himself once again by opening a restaurant that was built to feed everyone in his community, rich or poor.

Bon Jovi, who was born 49 years ago in Sayreville, New Jersey, has opened what he calls a ‘community restaurant’ named Soul Kitchen in the Garden State city of Red Bank.  His dream for Soul Kitchen was to build a place where people can enjoy healthy and fresh (and organic when possible) meals, and pay what they can afford.

So what does that mean?

It means there are no printed prices on the menu.  It’s based off an honor system, and if you feel you can afford to eat at Soul Kitchen, it’s suggested you pay the $10 per meal minimum.  For those who cannot afford to pay for the three-course meal, an hour of volunteering will suffice.  As for the peeps who wish to pay more to help others who don’t have the means, it’s very much appreciated.

According to the restaurant’s website, Soul Kitchen’s vision is “to serve healthy, delicious, and when possible, organic meals. At the Soul Kitchen you will notice there are no prices on the menu and you might have been seated with someone you don’t know. Customers pay the minimum donation or volunteer in some way to earn a voucher for a meal”.  Soul Kitchen’s positive slogan reads, “Hope is delicious”.

What a great concept!  I love it!
