The great band Metallica
The legendary metal band, which decided to postpone their Friday F1 Rocks concert in Guargaon, India, after a security barricade in front of the stage collapsed, was forced to cancel the rescheduled Saturday night gig because organizers of the show did not acquire the necessary approval needed for the show to go on.
Well that apparently ticked some fans off. NME reports that the rioters came out in full force because of the concert cancellation and more than $200,000 worth of the band’s equipment was damaged by the mad mob.
Following the chaos, four of the event’s organizers (from DNA Entertainment) were arrested on fraud charges, after there were public complaints made that refunds for the canceled show were being refused.
The band issued a statement regarding the cancelled show on their website, stating, “On Friday we were notified that there was a serious question as to whether the show could proceed with regard to the safety of the concert audience. And our first and foremost concern is always for the safety of you, the fans. Once we, along with DNA, the promoters of the show, determined that there was a failure of a security barricade in front of the stage that could not be adequately repaired, the promoter reluctantly announced the postponement of the show until Saturday. Unfortunately, on such short notice the promoters were unable to secure a permit for a show on Saturday.”
Luckily, Metallica was able to play their Sunday night gig in Bangalore Sunday night to about 40,000 fans, and of course they rocked it!
Good for them!
I guess I just never ‘got’ why people resort to rioting when things like this happen. Why take bad news and create destruction and violence out of it? Silliness I say!
Check out the crazy rioters below.
