Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard split
Another celebrity marriage has bitten the dust.
After two years of marriage (hey, it’s better than 72 days at least) actress Zooey Deschanel, 31, and rocker Ben Gibbard, 35, are headed for a divorce. The divorce news has been confirmed by Zooey’s publicist to Us Weekly and a source says no third party is involved.
The cool kids began dating in early 2008 and became engaged in December that same year. The couple were married on September 19, 2009 in Washington State.
Earlier this year when asked what the most surprising thing about marriage was Zooey replied: ”Probably the most surprising thing is that it’s not really that different. You still have to make a commitment and think about that commitment every day. It’s not like you get married and then all the work is done for you. You get married and you’re still in a relationship and you’re still doing your best to make it the best relationship you can.
…but it’s not work in a bad way. It’s just that you can’t expect to make no effort. You still have to make the effort and be kind and understanding. It sort of just solidifies your commitment.”
