Paul Simonon
According to NME, Simonon was one of 18 Greenpeace activists that stormed the Cairn oil rig and ordered information about the rig’s oil spill response plan, which was not released publicly. When the protestors did not get an answer, they refused to leave and that’s when the police were notified. Apparently, all of the protestors were arrested.
Prior to the raid, Simonon worked undercover as an assistant cook on the Greenpeace ship Esperanza.
Simonon, who has been a member of the band The Good, The Bad & The Queen since 2006, performed last Thursday for the first time in three years with the group aboard the Greenpeace boat The Rainbow Warrior on the River Thames in the UK.
