Joe Kapp and Angelo Mosca are rivals until the bitter end
Joe Kapp and Angelo Mosca, both 73-years-old, became involved in a physical fight onstage after Kapp extended white flowers to Mosca in an attempt to bury the hatchet after being rivals for 48 long years.
At the annual CFL alumni luncheon held in Vancouver, B.C. last Friday (November 25), former B.C. Lions/Cal Bears quarterback Joe Kapp and his lifetime nemesis Angelo Mosca, former Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ defensive tackle, were brought onstage simultaneously in an effort to end their bitter, half century old rivalry. Let’s just say it didn’t exactly go as the event’s coordinators had planned.
After slowly making his way onstage, a cane carrying Angelo Mosca was approached by Joe Kapp who offered Mosca a stem of tiny flowers. Mosca promptly held the microphone up to his mouth and grunted, “stick it up your ass,” which sent the crowd wailing with laughter. Clearly they thought Mosca’s comment was light-hearted. Soon they’d see this rivalry is here to stay…
Kapp, miffed that Mosca refused his truce and his flowers, proceeds to stick the flowers in Mosca’s face which only results in Mosca’s blood pressure blowing through the roof. The fight only accelerates from here with Mosca using his cane as a weapon, albeit not very effectively, and ends with Kapp laying out Mosca. Yep, he literally punches him in the kisser.
Joe Kapp is much more agile than Angelo Mosca, (although it’s clear the crazier one is Angelo), and I think his Karate Kid crane block may have saved him from the cane’s wrath.
