Courtney Love Offers Nirvana To Simon Cowell

Apparently Courtney Love is an X-Factor fan, because the loudmouth rocker is trying to get the show’s Executive Producer, Simon Cowell, to agree to have a contestant of the show sing a Nirvana song.

In typical Courtney Love fashion, with professionalism aside, the singer tweeted Cowell with what looks like a friendly “nudge nudge”; suggesting he consider having her late husband Kurt Cobain’s music sung by Janet Devlin, a contestant on the UK version of the show.

Love tweeted, “@SimonCowell you want some Nirvana songs? @JanetJealousy is from same town as Kurt? I have the perfect idea for that, call me babe.”

According to Digitalspy.co.uk (via SPIN), Cobain’s ancestry can be traced back to a village in Ireland that is near Devlin’s hometown.

A couple days later Love followed with, “@JanetJealousy @simoncowell i know it when i see it, but id want to have a hand in it, in bloom is the song, nothing else.” (Referring to Nirvana’s hit “In Bloom”.)

Although the offer might look good on paper, or Twitter for that matter, The Sun is reporting that The X-Factor producers were “stunned” by the idea, not only because it’s apparently really difficult to get songs cleared for the show, but also because of Love’s reputation as the controller to Nirvana’s estate.

All of this comes after Love has been making headlines for ranting about her affiliation with Nirvana’s income, along with taking stabs at the band’s former members including Love’s longtime nemesis and Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl.

After Love went on an anti-Grohl tirade during a Hole concert in Brazil earlier this month, Love did a post-show interview where she went more in depth about her current involvement with Nirvana’s estate. Love said, “I own Nirvana with my daughter [Frances Bean]. Because of tax reasons I have to give that money to my sister, Kim Cobain, and [Kurt's mother] Wendy Cobain. Dave makes five million a show … why the f*ck, then, does he have a Nirvana Inc. credit card and I don’t?”

Oh dear.

I wonder if there will ever be a day Love decides to keep her dirty laundry private. Nah, probably not!
